Chapter 1777 - 1195: Liberation Rite (Part 2)
Chapter 1777 - 1195: Liberation Rite (Part 2)
"Magic Power and Magic Power gather together, forming Magic Power nodes one after another, then pass through the Ritual Towers erected by the ’Giant Soldiers’, and in the end are adjusted into interconnected Magic Arrays."
This was a Magic ritual that would shroud the entire Akasha Continent.
When it activated, the sky would become a lattice of Magic Power nodes formed by ritual Magic Arrays, intersecting with one another, and the land, under the resonance of the super-massive ritual devices formed from ancient ruins, would likewise become an altar.
In that instant, the entire Akasha Continent would turn into a colossal ritual field, used to host this liberation ceremony.
"Using the whole continent... as an altar?"
Liz and Lilith were both terrified.
This was simply an unprecedented grand undertaking!
"...A Magic ritual on this scale, and it’s only to liberate the power of a single monster?"
Reiger instead furrowed his brows, endless doubt rising in his heart.
In truth, this doubt had already taken root back when Charity first revealed the Temple’s plan.
According to Charity, the underground magical beast Yarakulon was the Sacred Beast worshiped by the Temple, with a colossal power hidden inside its body that, once liberated, could ravage the entire continent.
But as for where such a terrifying power came from, Charity had never made it clear.
It wasn’t that she didn’t want to say, but that she herself didn’t know.
According to her, the Sacred Beast had already existed before she joined the Temple, as if it naturally ought to be worshiped by the Temple, and the leader, "Heaven’s Hunt", had never once mentioned how it came to be or why it had become the Temple’s Sacred Beast.
The ancient texts Reiger had searched through contained very few descriptions of the underground magical beast Yarakulon. The wording was vague, as if someone had deliberately concealed the information, or treated it as some sort of taboo that was not allowed to be recorded.
So, all Reiger knew was that the underground magical beast Yarakulon was an ancient monster that had already existed during the Ancient Magic Civilization Period, roaming through the underground of the continent all this time. Every time it surfaced, it would devour at will everything its massive maw could reach, including, but not limited to, the towns and cities on the surface.
The ancient ruins inside Yarakulon had been swallowed like that as well, thus ending up lodged where they were, making it look like some sort of natural disaster. There was simply no material or intelligence indicating how this monster had appeared, nor what its origin was.
And now, in order to liberate the hidden power inside this monster, they actually needed to turn the entire Akasha Continent into an altar, into a ritual field...?
With such a massive undertaking, was it really just to liberate some so‑called hidden power?
"There’s definitely some secret here that I don’t know about."
Reiger was very sure of that.
But now did not seem to be a time that allowed him to calmly think things through.
"They’re here."
At a certain moment, Charity suddenly spoke, saying just that one line, making everyone freeze.
"W‑What’s here?"
The little princess was somewhat nervous, somewhat uneasy.
But she soon understood what Charity meant.
"Rumble..."
A tremor from the earth suddenly erupted, and a mass of black shadows swept in from the other side of the ice and snow.
The true form of the shadows was a horde of monsters.
Some were like polar bears, some like snow wolves, some like sea dragons, some like snow ogres... one Northern Polar Regions–exclusive monster after another appeared in packs, forming a spectacle of ten thousand beasts stampeding, shaking this frozen world and kicking up waves of fine snow behind them that rolled like smoke-dragons across the ground.
"Roar—"
"Awooo—"
Roars that sounded both enraged and mad burst forth like an avalanche, shaking this land of ice and snow.
"Master!"
Lilith’s face changed. Without the slightest hesitation, she darted in front of Reiger, blocking him behind her.
Liz and Yuloli also reacted. One hurriedly drew the Sword of Moslo, and the other maintained an expressionless face.
"What’s going on?"
Reiger’s brows knit tighter and tighter, and in his ears, Charity’s voice arrived just in time.
"The unfolding of the Liberation Ritual will cause abnormalities in the flow of Magic Power across the entire continent."
"The Sacred Beast’s awakening will also cause monsters to lose their reason and fall into a state of rampage."
"It’s not just here. Monsters all over the continent should be like this right now, completely berserk."
This was, without a doubt, a catastrophe.
But for the Temple, it was not so.
To the Temple, the rampaging monsters were also a force they intended to bring under their control.
To sweep across the entire continent and crush all nations, they would need not only the Sacred Beast’s power, but also an army.
Monsters were precisely the army the Temple intended to deploy.
Bear in mind, the Ancient Magic Civilization itself had been destroyed by monsters!
"[Magic: Maximum Enhancement · Hellfire Wall]!"
Just as the rampaging horde of monsters was about to engulf Reiger’s group like an avalanche, Lilith finally couldn’t hold back and took the first move.
"Boom!"
Pitch‑black Magic flames instantly appeared before Reiger and the others, forming a wall of fire.
It was a black flame that caused no external wounds, but directly burned away life force.
"Roar!"
"Awoo!"
One polar monster after another charged into the pitch‑black wall of fire without slowing, letting out agonized screams within it.
As their very lives were burned, the monsters howled in misery and collapsed one by one in the black flames.
However, even more monsters only became more frenzied from the pain. They mercilessly trampled over their companions’ corpses, grinding them into mangled flesh as they surged out from the pitch‑black wall of fire.
"Bang!"
At that very moment, Liz and Yuloli simultaneously rushed out.
One wielded a resplendent golden Holy Sword, the other a pitch‑black ominous magic sword. Like tigers into a flock of sheep, they plunged into the monster horde and began a wanton slaughter.
Sword light poured down like a waterfall wherever the two girls passed, interweaving into a storm that severed the roaring monsters lunging at them.
The two girls, both from the Reinnaier clan and lauded as descendants of heroes, charged through the monster ranks as if no one were there.
"So strong..."
Seeing this, Charity, who had stayed by Reiger’s side all along, had a faint gleam in her eyes.
She knew Liz’s identity, and she knew Yuloli was Reiger’s Attendant.
But she had not known these two possessed such power.
"Flame Princess" had in fact once gathered intelligence of this sort, but Charity had only skimmed it and never took it to heart.
Because her target, from beginning to end, had always been Reiger.
Only now did Charity realize that the two Attendants at Reiger’s side were actually this strong.
Yuloli needed no explanation; the casual strength she displayed was enough to make Charity feel threatened.
As for Liz... after her Bloodline Awakening, the little princess’s strength had been growing at a geometric rate and was already incomparable to before.
In Reiger’s words, Liz was now almost at the peak of Lv.7 and was about to possess combat power worthy of Lv.8!
With the Sword of Moslo’s aid, the little princess’s strength would stir even Charity’s hunting instincts when she saw it.
By comparison, though Lilith was also at a Sword Saint level comparable to Lv.7, her performance, in Charity’s eyes, could only be described as mediocre. At most, the Magic she used was a bit unusual, and her way of fighting was far more bloody and brutal.
See? The moment she saw Liz and Yuloli charging into the monsters and rampaging, Lilith’s eyes also turned blood‑red as she rushed in.
Her slender hands were like sharp claws; every time she thrust out a hand, it would go straight for a monster’s chest, then pierce through and dig out its heart.
Fortunately, she did not eat it on the spot, or even Charity would probably have gone pale.
As for now...
"I’ll join in too."
Charity seemed to have found some motivation, drew the Inheritance Sword, and strolled forward.
Only Reiger was left standing alone where he was, treating the ferocious monster horde as if it didn’t exist.
Staring at the ripples of Magic Power constantly spreading across the distant sky, Reiger’s eyes flickered slightly.
"Looks like we have to head back as soon as possible."
