Chapter 1275 - 491: Crimson Blood Wall (Part 2)
Chapter 1275 - 491: Crimson Blood Wall (Part 2)
Cough! Cough!Lin Xian fanned the dust around, and now surveying the interior, he realized it should be a high-ranking officer’s room on the warship, quite spacious with an independent bathroom and a work area.
Perhaps the battle hadn’t occurred here, as there were no traces of fighting or corpses in the room; it was relatively clean. Unless something unexpected happened, he would have to stay here tonight. Lin Xian originally planned to explore this area thoroughly, searching for information about his team members and the Phoenix Society, but the sudden appearance of that bizarre blood wall caught him off guard. He immediately realized that blindly exploring without understanding the conditions of the Scarlet Territory was akin to seeking death, even though he was eager to find Teacher Chen and others, he could only hide for now.
Lin Xian went to the bathtub and turned on the faucet, but the pipes emitted a hissing empty sound without a drop of water coming out.
"Hiss~"
He leaned against the outside of the bathtub, simply cleaning the bloodstains on his body, the extremely strong smell of blood directly attacked his throat, causing Lin Xian to ponder internally.
"I can’t block that thing with the AT Force Field, so it mustn’t be an energy form, nor some physical entity. How should I defend against it?"
Countless anxieties and doubts swirled in his mind, Lin Xian sighed in relief, fortunately, he still had many drones available. He didn’t need to take personal risks to search for supplies; once he found something, he could dispatch transport drones to help retrieve them. If danger arose, it would minimize drawing fire upon himself.
Although he thought this way, Lin Xian cautiously spent time devouring all the useless electrical devices in the room, then created a Dark Energy Synchronization Device to envelop the entire room, somewhat relaxing his tension.
At this moment, Lin Xian looked at the empty room and tried calling Grace.
"Grace! Can you hear me?"
There was no response, just like he was trapped inside the Black Star Forge.
"Grace..."
"Strange," Lin Xian muttered to himself: "I can clearly sense the presence of the Flashing Bullet between my brows; has South Heavenly Gate also encountered an issue?"
At this time, Lin Xian had no Disaster Plants or supplies around him; the only thing available was a Black Gear, yet he could sense the Flashing Bullet but couldn’t contact Grace. Lin Xian immediately thought of several possibilities.
The first was that the scarlet was blocking his connection to the Taboo Item, but since he could sense it, this possibility seemed unlikely.
The second was that there was an issue on Grace’s side...
"Since I can sense it, perhaps it can also flash..."
Lin Xian now had a partial plan in mind; as long as his Flashing Bullet was still on South Heavenly Gate, in an emergency, he could attempt to use this method to leave the Scarlet Territory.
Having thought of this, the stone in Lin Xian’s heart slightly settled, and he then took out the Black Gear to inspect it in his hand.
"Xiao Ling said this thing could walk through Star Abyss; maybe it will be useful in the Scarlet Territory. But how exactly to use it, that woman didn’t explain in detail..."
Lin Xian held the Black Gear, stretching his hand towards his ear, then activated his Holographic Vision, focusing on the exploration status of his drones.
The drone lights pierced through layers of darkness, exploring various rooms and life cabins in a distributed manner, quickly discovering many supplies. But upon scanning, Lin Xian found that those supplies, including food like canned goods, had their outer packaging somehow eroded. He tried to manipulate a drone to break open a beef can, only for the can to suddenly explode, spewing out a thick gray-brown liquid, not resembling something edible.
"The cans have also been corroded?"
Watching this occurrence, Lin Xian’s heart sank further; it was as if humanity was being forced into a corner. He sighed inwardly, in these three months, humans might not yet be completely extinct, but under the scarlet, they likely suffered tremendous losses...
Not giving up, the drones continued their search. At this moment, several drones reached the lower deck’s storage area, their lights sweeping across a sealed cargo hold without signs of being opened.
But before Lin Xian’s drones had any action, one drone’s screen suddenly appeared with numerous glowing tendrils, then in the blink of an eye, the drone’s surveillance went dark, and the signal completely cut off.
Lin Xian’s brows furrowed immediately; he realized an Abnormal Body might exist in the cargo hold area, quickly deploying several nearby drones to investigate again.
This time, it was even quicker; his drone hadn’t begun scanning when the screen was immediately captured by sprung tendrils and crashed.
This time though, Lin Xian seized some clues, backtracking through the received footage frame by frame, discovering the tendrils shooting out from the darkness, under weak light, vaguely seeing something twisting resembling a crawling Monster.
"The drones are inanimate, yet are being attacked? It seems the creatures in the scarlet aren’t just relying on the Dark Mark; they can see and hear any existence, possibly having sensing systems beyond humans..."
Lin Xian frowned; he definitely had to explore the cargo hold area. He had lain in the Hibernation Pod for too long, and combined with recent massive blood loss, he was extremely dehydrated. If he couldn’t find food and water, despite his ability to craft starships with his hands, he couldn’t last more than a day or two. Additionally, seeing a Monster appear outside the cargo hold area indicated there might be something intriguing for the Monster inside. Hence, Lin Xian thought briefly, decisively summoning a "Dragon Girl" to confront the creature within the scarlet.
The Black Star Forge opened, a sleek female-like Mecha clangs onto the ground then quickly stood, its blade feet planted firmly, its elegant mechanical body exuding a cold, overwhelming murderous intent.
Lin Xian observed his creation, sparks flashing in his eyes.
"Proceed."
Whizz!
"Dragon Girl" shook its arms, elbow-mounted VK Electric Knife shot out instantly, the arc emitting a low hum, then Lin Xian manipulated to open the hatch and dispatched it.
The silver-gray silhouette transformed into a cold light within the tilted passageway, sparks bursting from the blade tip with each step, its slender and lethal metal limbs darting across walls, an obstructed pathway blocked by collapsed metal structures met her, without hesitation she raised her left arm, wrist steel cable shot out with a "shoo", the sharp anchor embedded deeply into the beam above, the wire instantly tensed, and the Mecha used the momentum to draw a sharp arc through the air, bypassing the obstacle, then descended swiftly through the broken deck mouth to the lower deck level, at the moment of descent, the propulsion units on its soles and back emitted brief blue flames, cushioning the landing, a cloud of rusty dust erupted.
"Slow down ahead, all-frequency scan." Lin Xian’s orders echoed within the data link.
"Dragon Girl" eyes’ scanning raster swept layer by layer over the outline of the front dark storage room, the hydraulic-driven limb lightened its movements, the VK Electric Blade’s humming reduced to the lowest level.
Just before ’she’ stepped into the storage room area preceding the cargo hold, the built-in Dark Energy sensor responded, and Lin Xian immediately saw abnormalities on Dragon Girl’s scanning radar.
Something stayed lurking in the pile of shadows cast by the containers, silently watching ’her’, and at this moment, the remotely controlling Lin Xian felt some tension.
On one hand, he didn’t know what Dragon Girl was about to face, and on the other, he wasn’t sure if the disturbance would trigger more trouble.
"Careful, there’s a living being within the area, switch to combat mode."
Lin Xian’s gaze locked onto Dragon Girl’s radar imaging, watching that hazy biological dark energy fluctuation move cunningly, playing hide and seek with the Mecha’s scanning wave.
Seeing this scene, Lin Xian slightly frowned, Abnormal Bodies normally wouldn’t behave this way, they would directly attack upon encountering prey, yet this entity not only could directly perceive Dragon Girl’s existence as a non-living Mecha but also seemed to be ’observing’ her, ready to act at any opportunity?
"You can see? Alright, deploy an illumination flare!" Lin Xian’s command was issued without any foreshadowing.
Hiss——!
A blazing white light sphere shot from Dragon Girl’s shoulder-mounted launcher, ripping through the thick shadow instantly! The glaring white brilliance poured down in a torrent, leaving corner shadows nowhere to hide, exposing an eerie multi-legged spider like flayed flesh, its head featuring Black Hole-like eye units sunk in, from which countless ends flickered with ghostly green phosphorescent tendrils wildly danced in the light.
Found it!
